Vision

  • Since the Arab Spring, Arabs have been increasingly turning to social media to amplify and share their stories in an unprecedented manner. Arabs across the diaspora have pushed back against stereotypical and harmful depictions of their communities, using social channels to reclaim our narratives and share our stories.

It is clear that the way to regain control of our own narrative is to write our stories ourselves; that is why we want to tell our own story.

We feel that our stories reflect the richness and diversity of diaspora members’ lived experiences, and our goal is to make a film with which any child of immigrants can identify. This film seeks to empower other Palestinians, and all immigrants in diaspora, to reclaim and maintain their cultural identities, and stand with their people in the face of erasure. There is a joy and solace to be found in sharing our complex experiences. That’s why we hope to use our film to facilitate future diasporic communities founded on pluralism and inclusivity, and to show that there is no single right way to live your heritage.
